Books, films, and pizza

Last night was the WI bookclub. We talked about The Secret Rooms by Catherine Bailey and Nella Last's War, which made for interesting discussions. One is about the aristocracy, the other is a lower/middle class woman, one set during the first, the other the second; one set up a mystery and the other was the minutiae of life. Chalk and cheese? Yes, but both well written and well worth looking at. And ultimately both about the futility of war.
Tonight's holiday treat for me and my boys is Ender's Game. War, again, but this time in the future. It's on now, so I'm watching and going to finish writing soon.

    I've taught Ender's Game to middle school students when I was a teacher. Good book. I would love to be part of a book club, it always sounds really interesting.

    I like book club meetings when there are opposite views, makes it interesting.

    I've never been part of a book club, I bet the discussions about the books are really interesting with lots of different views and opinions. Hope you enjoyed the film, not one I've heard of.

I really need to introduce you to my latest hooky love, before it gets finished and I end up not telling you the back story. How did you start writing your blog?

And when you got your first comment how did you feel? I found a new blog friend this week and commented on her post, then another and then another. I like reading back posts when I find a new person. It makes them more of a full personality to me. But it got me thinking; how did I start writing my blog? And when did I get my first comment (and who off?) My first post was called Angel Jem; From Mess to Less.  Ho hum, that aim has never quite happened, has it? And my first commenter was the lovely Cherry Menlove. I'd been a blog-hopper for ages, had been leaving comments on others blogs and then decided I should probably dip my toe in and go for it. Cherry Menlove was one of my favourite reads, and I was delighted that she stopped by and commented! Back then (2007) there didn't seem to be that many blogs out there.
