Meal Planning Monday

Back to school :,(
We are all back to school today. Is it raining? Or is it only raining in my heart?
A week is not long enough.

But there are only 6 weeks until our next holiday so we can survive.

Meals this week are easy and quick; I'm getting over a bad cold that laid me low on Friday and Saturday so I'm cutting some slack.

Monday; Party leftovers; chilli or ham or whatever is left.
Tuesday; Cowboy Casserole
Wednesday; Twice cooked pork
Thursday; Meatballs, pasta and sauce.
Friday; Fish and Chips
Saturday; ?Pizza Hut? or Sainsbury's pizza
Sunday; Welsh Lamb with potato gratin and leeks

We have 2 out of 3 children away this next weekend, so Middle Son finally experiences life as an only child. He will either love it or hate it; for 14 years he has been part of a close family and, as far as I can remember, never been alone. I'm looking forward to it because he really needs some confidence building. We want to take him to a science centre, either Enginuity at Ironbridge or MOSI in Manchester. Jodrell Bank is also a possibility! And we will probably take him to the cinema as well. Spoilt? Yes, he will be!

  1. I was thinking of your meal planning posts this morning funnily enough, I might have to start doing the same. Time seems to run away after Tuesdays. Harry adapted extremely well when Rob left for uni, he really like being the only child for a while. Our boys used to love going to Jodrell Bank but we haven't been for a while so might take another trip when the weather warms up. Oh yes, roll on the Easter holidays xx

And meal planning is a wonderful thing....... except when real life gets in the way!

  2. I love having all the family together but it's nice to give each child individual time too and spoil them a little. Not sure what we're having for tea yet, we had a roast on Sunday for a change this week as Daniel and his girlfriend were home from uni so it will be an easy tea tonight.

    1. I did wonder if you'd do two! I'm sure Daniel had a fab time with his birthday tea! (and yorkshire pudding!!)

  3. How different it'll be just having one child at home instead of three! Don't you find that the dynamics change even if you just take one of them out of the equation? Sounds like he's in for a treat! There's a secret nuclear bunker very near Jodrell Bank, it's on my list of places to visit, but we haven't been there yet. Hope you feel properly better and over that cold soon x

    1. Hack Green Nuclear bunker; thanks for the reminder! I went on the website and it actually looks right up his street; and being an underground bunker it isn't weather dependant so whoo hoo! Even if it rains we can go!

  4. I hope that you're starting to feel better from your cold. We only have five weeks until the next holiday round here....which has already started to feel a bit manic! Jx

    1. Do you have a proper Easter holiday, then? With a week before Easter and a week after? We (in Liverpool) are having hideously named Spring Breaks in the first two weeks of April. Not bad, but not good either!

  5. Rotten to have a cold during the school hols when you had so much going on with the Princess birthday. Hope you are feeling more chipper now. Our week started off with junk food last night for the birthday celebrations and Tues Graham always does tuna pasta bake for the children because I'm at work, they love the meal and he can cope with cooking it! Hope your son has a fab time with you come the weekend.

I haven't had tuna bake in a while! We have tunaconi cheese sometimes when I need a change from bacon!

  8. I'm sorry you're sad. If it helps, it makes me very happy that you're sad about them going back to school because most people I know do nothing but complain about their teenagers and I am really going to try not to do that when the time comes.

    1. I love my Big people! I always loved spending time with them when they were small and that hasn't changed as they've grown.... except if they're having an irrational moment when I can't stand them! But mostly if we stick a good action movie on, or take them for a walk, or give them some food we're happy together!
