Only 115 days to go; The countdown begins.
One of my family's publishable names for me is the Christmas Fairy. I love Christmas, I adore Christmas, I start thinking about it in July.. or June... or this year I think it was actually May when I first wrote the wonderful words 'Christmas 2007' in my red polka dot notebook.
I have my thinking lists compiled and a list of what I need to get and make planned by the time my holidays are over. On years when I visit Cheltenham I stock up on those silly little stocking fillers at Hawkins Bazaar shop, in the Regents Arcade there.
I've missed out on that this year, since we had to change holiday locations at the last minute and ended up in Linlithgow in Scotland. No Hawkins Bazaar, true, but there were two fabric shops within 50 yards of each other and I had my list... I have got my fabric ready and now I need to tidy up my craft room just a little so that I can get making.... Five ballet backpacks, four girlie bags, three boys things, two notepad covers and...
hehe I sat in the gorgeous sunshine today making the first of my Christmas cards for this year - it was a tad bizarre!! I'm so glad to find people in the world of blogging as mad about Christmas as me!!
ReplyDeleteOh no not Christmas yet please no.Can I just enjoy any sunshine that might come our way in September please especially as I'm off to Spain for 6 days at the end. Then I will happily think its on its way Is that OK?
ReplyDeleteOh I also cannot wait for Christmas - I may actually explode with madness!!!! We have a guest for Christmas this year too so it'll be even better! So what else did you write in your polka dot note book?......
ReplyDeleteChristmas !!!! Oh no, not yet !!
ReplyDeleteI'm an easter person, Christmas is far too hectic for me, and the children have such high expectations of Christmas that I'm always afraid they'll end up disappointed. The latest add to my daughters Christmas list is a $300.00 surf ski, a surf board and a wet suit. That's not forgetting an electric ukelali ! What happened to an orange in a stocking !
I'm thinking of Christmas too.
ReplyDeleteI love christmas, but I find the run-up is so much better than the day itself. Which isn't to say that it's in any way boring, but I love planning, preparing, hoarding. I make my xmas cake this month, two of them, and lovingly feed them with brandy up until December. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI desperately want to play xmassy music, but knowing that we've got to get through November (my nemesis month) is scary. But December is the light at the end of the tunnel :)
Loved your last post too, though I always dread September - I hated school, it just wasn't 'me'.
I started sticking pictures of Christmas projects & cards into my notebook just yesterday. But there's a lot to get through before then ...
ReplyDeleteHave to confess that Christmas is always at the back of my mind for the full 12 months of the year!
ReplyDeleteWould you mind to go to my blog?
ReplyDeleteI have a little thing for you there.
I haven't planned ahead quite as much as you Jo, but I have been thinking about making some Christmas cards and have collected together some bits and pieces.I had a trial run last week and made some general greetings cards, I'm really pleased with them so I think the Christmas cards will be in a similar style. Even though my kids are 19 and 15 now I still like to make a fuss at Christmas and they'll always have a filled stocking from Santa while they're under my roof!

Only 115 days? Aack! That's not enough. I think I'm not ready for summer to be over yet???
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about Christmas too. What theme should I have this year? What should I have - a tree or something else?
ReplyDeleteI have already been looking at Christmas ribbons and paper and have some goodies ready for some handmade cards.
Are we nuts?
love Ax
Yes, yes, the C word! I love it. Phoned my brother to make plans for the festivities today! They were wondering why we'd left it so late to mention it!!!

I adore Christmas! My friends laugh at me!
ReplyDeleteLast year we had to go "low key" as our kitchen/dining room was half way through being renovated - never fear...I tidied up & decorated even though we had a gaping hole in the wall, no floor tiles, half plastered walls etc. I'm really looking forward to this Christmas in our completed room!
Ph my...are you one of those people who has everything bought and packed by Halloween? LOL I love Christmas too.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Hawkins have a website. We've been buying stocking fillers from them online for a few years.
ReplyDeleteThe minute september hits, I start planning for Christmas. I also start buying the presents (mostly online)and usually have most of the shopping done by the end of november. I hate the last minute crush!
Good for you! I say, do what makes you happy. I bought a Halloween pumpkin from a thrift store this past March!
ReplyDeleteOh I love this Christmas stuff! I wanted to stop looking at your pictures and leave a comment real quick before I forgot - I tend to get lost in the moment, you know! And you know what? If Ms. Mary over at Mary, Mary, Fairly Contrary doesn't stop trying to stop the Christmas fever out here in Blogland, I'm going to have to mail her a tin full of coal! lol She left a very similar comment on my blog, too. But I love reading her so I guess I'll let her slide. This time!
