I kneely had a nasty accident.

Friday 7th March I had a fall in school and landed badly on my left knee. I'm funny about knees anyway. Watching football when any player gets taken out at the knees or ankles makes my stomach flip. And boy did this hurt.

The ripple progresses slowly, very!

Worst of all I was in a classroom at school when all the children were there. I cried, it hurt that badly, and the year 3 were very concerned. I knew as I sat on the floor that this was not 'just a fall and I'll get a bruise tomorrow'. It was such a funny feeling. I had to get a lift home and send Mr Angel Jem to school to retrieve my car.
Still rippling along; here you can see my favourite position this week, leg up!

I have damaged the ligaments in my left knee. For a weekend I lay down, elevated, iced and painkillered to within an inch of my life. Of course I went in to school on Monday; I can't sit on the smallest chairs yet but my job involves a lot of sitting and thinking or ringing or paperworking so there was plenty I could do.
It's a lot better now, but I still can't lean on the knee, or use it too much and if I bang the toes or the heel when my leg is bent I get the same stomach tossing wobble as hitting my funny bone.

I cleaned the fireplace and put out my spring display. I want some birds for the tree. Poor felt bird looks lonely!

Today (Sunday) I hoovered up (big mistake) and this afternoon I have basically rested. I hope the immobility caused by the injury will mean my ripple blanket (going since November) will finally get finished before Easter so that I can turn my attention to some cute crochet. I want some birds, some cushions, some more bunting for the summer. But first of all, can you pass me the paracetamol. My knee is aching again and it must be time for some more.

  1. Poor you, I am inwardly cringing too thinking about what you have done! Ouch! At least you have the perfect excuse to rest and do that crocheting!

    1. Thank you! I'm a lot better 10 days on, but I still can't kneel!

  2. Oh how awful. My sore knee sends your sore knee much loving sympathy. Knee injuries are vile and so limiting. Do take care of it and let it heal properly before inflaming it by inappropriate activity such as vacuuming or housework involving short steps and turns and twists!! Otherwise it hurts like hell and I learnt this in action! Also avoid friends, particularly those in healthcare professions, who will tell you that you look like you are auditioning for the Ministry of Funny Walks (tho' this might just be my strange friends' sense of humour!)

Crocheting and blogging is VERY good for knee injuries! Take very good care of yourself and do let us have updates.

    1. Thank you. I need you to send these instructions to my husband, particularly highlighting the no HOUSEWORK bit. But my washing is piling up like a mountain and the dust on the piano is big enough to write War and Peace in, so perhaps just a little...

    1. Not much cleaning ever really goes on... I am not a natural housekeeper, hence the time to read and crochet!

    1. The pain gets less every day. Apart from around the vacuum cleaner and the washing machine when it is MUCH MUCH WORSE.
