We had a lovely time;

Cookies on Christmas Eve (one for Santa; two for me)
Opening presents on the Day itself


A Sansa clip and a Sylvanian caravan for the Princess,


Wii with games and extras for the Boys


A beautifully decorated table; done by my 7 year old daughter. I have passed on the mantle.



Christmas Dinner; turkey and all the trimmings complete with silly hats and crackers (97p from Tesco but they were red and white and just looked so right for our table)





Doctor Who; yes, I cried, but not as much as I will on New Year's Day.


And an early night, ready for the next day.

It's the second week of term and the countdown to half term has started already. Well, it is only a 5 week term, so that's a blink of the eye. Meals for this week are; Monday; Pork fajitas. I cooked the pork on Sunday and left it in the fridge to be ready for a quick and easy meal after 2 hours of tutoring and before bookclub which today is discussing The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins. Tuesday; Stir fried beef. We have some spring onions and some sugar snap peas to throw in with noodles and have a tasty chinese! Wednesday; Meatballs and mash. We love Aldi meatballs, or Frikadellen as they're called. They cook quickly and go with loads of options. Like mash, or chips, or pasta. Today is mash and peas and gravy. Lots of gravy. Thursday; Spaghetti Bolognese made in a jiffy with mince and a jar of pasta sauce. Somedays I am a lazy cook. How did you start writing your blog?

And when you got your first comment how did you feel? I found a new blog friend this week and commented on her post, then another and then another. I like reading back posts when I find a new person. It makes them more of a full personality to me. But it got me thinking; how did I start writing my blog? And when did I get my first comment (and who off?) My first post was called Angel Jem; From Mess to Less.  Ho hum, that aim has never quite happened, has it? And my first commenter was the lovely Cherry Menlove. I'd been a blog-hopper for ages, had been leaving comments on others blogs and then decided I should probably dip my toe in and go for it. Cherry Menlove was one of my favourite reads, and I was delighted that she stopped by and commented! Back then (2007) there didn't seem to be that many blogs out there. Thursday. No tutee turning up at 10am. No child out anywhere until midday at the earliest. No place I need to be. I can lie in. My essential kit; my Kindle app on my tablet, Audible on my phone and a decent magazine. Not in shot (but even more essential) some lavender handcream , a chai tea and a lock on the bedroom door.
